A departure and a return
Dear Friend,I had been agonizing about sending this particular issue, mostly due to some personal struggles I feel are unwise to detail in a parasocial setting, but then NATIONAL TREASURE DOLLY PARTON DIED. I have very little to add to the outpouring of grief and love splashing the internet at the moment. I would hardly call myself a fan, though I respected her. "9 to 5" is the second song on my "Gotta Get Up" morning playlist. Every interview I'd ever seen or read points to her being a diamond, a saint, and funny and good-natured, to boot. Humanity will be lucky if it ever sees the like of her again. I'm no Dolly and don't pretend to be, but I am a pretty good singer with a birthday coming up on Monday and I would love nothing more than to have you come to one of my next three shows. I'll be at the back patio of Havalina for Portland Songwriter's week tomorrow (Weds!) at 5, with Mitch Whitaker and Karyn Ann, the front patio of Covert Café this Friday at 5:30 with Rocky Seahorse, and at Kelly's Olympian Friday September 4 at 8pm for a joint birthday celebration with Cody Riker and Joe Sanchez!Be well, and hope to see you soon! |
