Come see me on Saturday, May 30th at the Haymaker! Opening for Tyler Berd. Music starts at 9pm. 21+, $10Dear Friend,If you've you have received exactly zero emails from me before and don't know why you are on the receiving end of this one, please let me remind you that I am the lady with the colorful hair, bass guitar, and big voice that bewitched you probably at a bar and very likely at an open mic... maybe a long, long time ago, maybe not so long ago. I don't know. I assure you, you signed up for my mailing list. I'm indeed a living human person who very likely hand-copied your address out of a little yellow notebook and into a database that was supposed to make all this manageable. My analytics have historically reported just about half of subscribers actually opening the emails, but a few issues ago that number dropped drastically. Some readers have told me these were being delivered directly to the circular file, while others say they weren't being delivered at all. Further research has proven that even attempting direct communication still requires navigating secret algorithms. After much experimenting with my previous platform to very little avail, I've migrated my list to a new service in the hopes that people who actually want these notes get them. Greetings! Welcome, if it's your first time. If it's not your first time but it's been a hot minute, welcome back! Thank you for reading, I've missed you. Really, I've missed you. I'll be at the Haymaker in Portland on Saturday night. You should come out. The bourbon mushrooms are my favorite. Be well, and hope to see you soon! |

Dear Friend, I had been agonizing about sending this particular issue, mostly due to some personal struggles I feel are unwise to detail in a parasocial setting, but then NATIONAL TREASURE DOLLY PARTON DIED. I have very little to add to the outpouring of grief and love splashing the internet at the moment. I would hardly call myself a fan, though I respected her. "9 to 5" is the second song on my "Gotta Get Up" morning playlist. Every interview I'd ever seen or read points to her being a...

Dear Friend, It's August. And you know what? I'd really love to play some tunes for you. There are a few places you can find me this my birthday month, if you're game! All of these shows are pay-what-you will. Coming up soonest in a week is the happy hour set with Colleen Johnson! She is a queer...
Come see me on Friday, July 24th 5:30-7pm at Covert Café! Trading tunes with Rocky Seahorse on the patio. $5 suggested; NOTAFLOF Dear Friend, The penultimate Rocky & Val summer special is happening tomorrow on the patio of Covert Café. These little off-the-cuff sets have been as rewarding as they've been challenging, and last month's event was a particular delight to perform, if a little rough for me. I'm in the process of breaking in a handful of new songs, and new arrangements of old songs,...
