The penultimate Rocky & Val summer special is happening tomorrow on the patio of Covert Café. These little off-the-cuff sets have been as rewarding as they've been challenging, and last month's event was a particular delight to perform, if a little rough for me. I'm in the process of breaking in a handful of new songs, and new arrangements of old songs, in preparation for recording. The process chugs along slowly, but if there's anything my last few gigs have demonstrated, it's that it's necessary.

I've lately made a CD of my EP Pearl Sky available at my shows. I've made a point of reclaiming these songs on bass and performing some of them to facilitate a little interest. There's also a bonus track included of a different version of "Saturnine Saturday" as recorded with Brent Warren and André Pacheco, a code to the digital download, and a random tarot card enclosed. I've been pleasantly surprised that they've been selling, and also a little taken aback at the excitement and disappointment I've encountered when folks have asked if my newer material was included. I'm sad to disappoint, flattered at the interest, and anxiously motivated to get the new stuff out. When will it be out? I honestly don't know. I hope not too long, but coordinating schedules with my producer-collaborators has been something of a challenge.

In the meantime, you'll only get to hear the new stuff live. It's pretty good. So come to a show!
